18 October 2019, Noida
In an attempt to tackle the problem of sexual harassment of women at the workspace, InterraIT in association with the District Administration, Gautam Buddh Nagar launched the S.H.O.R. (Sexual Harassment Online Redressal) app and web portal at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra auditorium. This will act as a guard to women, protecting them from harassment attempts and giving them ways of dealing with the phenomenon.

The main aim behind building this is to increase women’s awareness of harassment, giving them information and advice on dealing with it, and most importantly help them report any harassment anonymously.

Shri. Pankaj Singh, MLA, Noida, and General Secretary (BJP), Uttar Pradesh, graced the occasion with his presence. Shri. B. N. Singh, DM, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Shri. Vaibhav Krishna, I.P.S, Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Smt. Dipa Singh Bagai, I.A.S (Retd.), Chairperson, Local Complaints Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Shri. Anil Kumar Singh, Chief Development Officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Mr. Souvanik Sarkar, Managing Director, InterraIT, and Ms. Swati De, Joint Managing Director, InterraIT, and Member of Local Complaints Committee were also present during the launch.

Shri. Pankaj Singh, MLA, Noida and General Secretary (BJP), Uttar Pradesh, said, “According to the World Economic Forum, the Indian economy can reach 70 billion dollars by the year 2025. This can happen if the women workforce is given equal opportunity and a safe and secure work environment. This initiative of developing an app and a web portal for a safe environment will well boost the economy.”

According to Mr. Souvanik Sarkar, Managing Director, InterraIT, “The initiative was taken by District Administration to make the process of reporting women safety issues simple and yet private. S.H.O.R. is a tool that will enable women in the district to file complaints easily. All the complaints registered will be closely monitored by the DM office. This will lead to more such initiatives across the whole country. The application is easy to use. Women working in this district can make use of the app or the web browser. It is bilingual and available in both Hindi and English.” B.N Singh, DM, Gautam Buddh Nagar said, “It is important that women at the workplace (be it in the formal or informal sector), work freely and safely. This makes it necessary and mandatory for companies to set up an Internal Compliment Committee (ICC) so that women employees can file complaints directly or use the app or web portal if they want to keep the report anonymous.”

According to Ms. Swati De, Joint Managing Director, InterraIT, “It was possible for us to develop this app with the constant support we received from the DM. The main aim for us is to make women feel safe and secure at their workspace.”

Women should be aware of all the laws so that they can lead their life respectfully. We will launch the app and website by August 15 after which it will be easier for women to file complaints against sexual harassment at the workplace. The complaint will be then transferred directly to the complainant's institution. In any company where more than 10 people work, there has to be an Internal Compliment Committee (ICC), which is mandatory in every company. This app will be the first of its kind in India.”

Smt. Dipa Singh Bagai, I.A.S (Retd.), Chairperson, Local Complaints Committee, Gautam Buddh Nagar, said, “Harassment of women in a workspace has been a common affair and has existed from the time we (as in women) have started working. There was a lack of awareness, knowledge, and platforms to file a complaint. The law back then was not as strict as it is today. But, the government along with platforms like will make it easy for women to work more freely in the corporate world. Today, the power of technology has also made it easy for the women workforce to file complaints anonymously.”

Shri. Vaibhav Krishna, I.P.S, Senior Superintendent of Police, pointed out, “Harassment in any form has increased and thus the need for such an app and web portal would help women file complaints easily and track the status accordingly.”

InterraIT has also been conducting training, as part of the CSR activity, to provide awareness about the POSH Act to the corporate citizens of Gautam Buddh Nagar district. The training has been designed keeping in mind the vital issues related to corporate sexual harassment and its preventive measures. With the help of real-life case studies, videos, and other training materials; experts shared their views on how to handle complicated scenarios within corporate environments in the most effective way.

From the time the Industrial Revolution started, the focus of the manufacturing industry has been on reducing cost and the manufacturing time (time to market) by increasing operational efficiency and creating a safer work environment. Manufacturers have recently started focusing on improving the customer experience and making supply chain management even more complex. They are using the technology to make significant cuts in unplanned downtime to better design products. AI has the potential to transform manufacturing tasks like visual inspection, predictive maintenance, and even assembly.
